Terms of Service for Whisp API
This agreement governs the use of the software application of Whisp API (“Application Programme Interface”) owned, hosted and managed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
Agreement
By using the Whisp API (“Whisp”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, as well as any future modifications made by FAO without notice. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not access or otherwise use Whisp.
Access
FAO reserves the right, at any time, to modify, temporarily suspend, or permanently close Whisp, including any means of accessing or utilizing it, at its sole discretion, with or without prior notice to users.
FAO may, at its sole discretion, under any circumstances, for any reason or no reason whatsoever, and with or without prior notice to users, terminate access to Whisp.
Users’ Input Data
The input geo-data provided by the user is solely processed and not retained.
License
The Whisp API is licensed under the MIT License (the “License”). You can obtain a copy of the License . By using the API, you agree to comply with the terms of the License and our Terms of Service.
Copyright
The content available on Whisp is subject to the FAO Terms and Conditions for use of its website. Unless otherwise stated, the information provided in Whisp, including but not limited to text, logos, graphics, maps, images, audio clips, and downloadable materials, is the property of FAO. Users may freely download and copy Whisp materials, reuse and modify the openly available Whisp code on GitHub.
Ownership of material provided by users remains with the original information provider(s) or right holder(s). Users may only upload data that they have the right or permission to distribute electronically. The users’ data will not be stored, made publicly available or redistributed.
Disclaimer
Whisp processes all data in accordance with FAO’s internal rules, policies, and practices.
Information provided in Whisp is made available “as is”. FAO does not guarantee that the information is correct, complete, or up to date. FAO does not represent or endorse the accuracy or reliability of any data provided in Whisp. Materials posted by users on Whisp represent the views of those users and do not reflect the views of FAO nor are they endorsed by FAO.
FAO will not store or permanently retain any user data submitted to Whisp. The designations used and the presentation of materials in Whisp do not imply any opinion on the part of FAO concerning the legal or development status of any country, territory, city, or area or of its authorities, nor do they imply any endorsement or acceptance of its boundaries.
Links to external websites are provided for user convenience only and do not constitute endorsement by FAO of those websites, their content, or the views expressed therein. FAO is not responsible for the accuracy or validity of information provided by these external sources.
FAO shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, reliance on, or reference to any content available in Whisp. This includes but is not limited to liability arising from any misuse, errors, unauthorized disclosure, or destruction of data.
Privileges and Immunities
Nothing contained in or related to these Terms of Service or to Whisp shall be construed as a waiver, express or implied, of the privileges and immunities of FAO. The operation and management of this application are not subject to any national or regional legal system.
